In my last post, I reviewed what programs and coaching provide that make them worthwhile. Here, I will provide some information that will help you choose what’s right for you. Since my focus is love and is spiritually-based, the examples listed below will reflect that focus.
No matter how highly recommended something may be, you need to check in with yourself when selecting support. If you feel more uplifted, hopeful, and motivated afterwards that is a good sign. If you feel like running the other way, no matter how highly recommended it may be, trust that feeling. That feeling may change and you can return when you’re ready. Or, it may not be the right avenue for you.
I’ve listed a few options below to help get you started. One thing I would suggest if you are just beginning on this path, select one approach to establish a foundation and stick with it for a while instead of sampling many. Each group, teacher has a specific way of teaching the fundamentals that may not mix well for you (at first) with another approach. It's the commitment to the path, not necessarily the specific method, that will yield results for you.
Types of Support
Community – Included in this category are church or social groups, online bulletin boards or groups. Some are free, some aren’t. The groups are usually managed by volunteers. Meetings/discussions can be free-flowing or structured. If you are venturing through new territory, this could be a good place to start. If you’re interested in love and soulmates, you may want to join the Love Will Find You yahoo group. I manage it for Kathryn Alice. We apply the 9 magnets described in her book, Love Will Find You (Da Capo). I've also listed the Live Streaming link for Agape church in Culver City, CA. You can watch their services live or via recording.
Subscription programs – These are ongoing paid communities, usually lead by someone who is considered an expert in the field. The fee is often paid monthly. Kathryn Alice’s Love Club, AgapeLive Online Community are examples of subscription programs. Examples of what you will receive include informational lectures or (tele)seminars, along with monthly meetings (in-person or via telephone/web). Often, you will have the opportunity to pose questions and receive answers to your specific issues/concerns.
Love Club Silver – This program will provide you with a monthly teleseminar, Q&A, and periodic opportunities for a mini-coaching call with Kathryn or one of her certified Love Attraction Coaches.
Agape Online Community – Reverend Michael Beckwith (featured in the book The Secret) hosts monthly talks with Question and Answer time. I LOVE listening in to his sessions. Even if you don't get the opportunity to ask a question, you'll benefit from the dialogue.
Classes – This is pretty straightforward. Classes are the place where you begin to apply all of the wonderful ideas that have inspired you to live a fulfilling life. There are many opportunities through local organizations, churches, and schools for development and growth. These opportunities may be available in-person or online. If you’re interested in a metaphysical or spiritually-based approach, I highly recommend taking classes through either the United Centers for Spiritual Living or International Centers for Spiritual Living. (They united last month under one organization.) Another place to take classes is through Agape. If you’re in the Los Angeles area, you can take classes in-person. They are also piloting classes online. Use the link below to view some of the options available through Agape. Coaching/Practitioner Support – Sometimes we want to move forward in a more focused way with personal attention and support in a private setting. A coach or spiritual practitioner provides the environment for you to clarify what you want, clear out any unconscious obstacles, and move forward in a place where you may feel stuck. You may use the links above to contact a spiritual practitioner in your community. I’ve been in contact with all of the coaches and know that you can only benefit from working with any of us. I would suggest that you go with your gut after reading the page and contact the coach that you feel most drawn to from the list. I believe we have soulmates of all types, including those who are our helpers along the way.
CDs/DVDs/Downloads and other Self-Study – These offer an opportunity to learn at your own pace, reinforce specific ideas, and to test out a particular organization or teacher’s approach. Once again, please check out the links under classes. Each organization offers recordings in various media.
